Venice Naval History Museum

The "Venice Naval History Museum", located near the Arsenal in Castello district, is devoted to naval and nautical history.

Exhibitions on four floors include a display on boats through history, a vast collection of model ships, portraits of captains and admirals as well as one floor covering Sweden´s maritime history.

Highlights of the musuem are a room dedicated to the gondola including the Peggy Guggenheim´s gondola, which was donated to the museum after her death in 1979 and the one about the famous naval ship Bucintoro, a ceremonial barge used by the Doges of Venice.
