Royal Navy Submarine Museum New Hampshire

The "Royal Navy Submarine Museum" in Gosport, New Hampshire allows you to dive into history and go on board the "HMS Alliance", the centerpiece of the museum and only surviving example of the "A" class submarines built for service in the Far East during WWII. You can even take a guided tour of the "HMS Alliance" enhanced by the first-hand experiences of veteran submariners. 

Besides this submarine four more are displayed:

  • Holland 1, the very first British submarine built in 1901
  • HMS X24, the only remaining example of a British X-craft that saw service during WWII 
  • Biber, a one-man submarine that carrried two torpedoes attached to each side of the hull  
  • LR3, a deep-see survey and repair submersible

You an also visit the collection of artefacts, including models of submarines, weapons, art and so on, or have a look at their collection of photographs, which begins with drawings and sketches of the very first submersibles of the 17th, 18th and 19th century and ends with the most modern British submarines. 

Furthermore the museum offers various workshops and learning programs for schools.
